Temporary Ban on Shipping Liquids from Indonesia

Temporary Ban on Shipping Liquids from Indonesia

As of January 1st, the shipment of liquids via EMS express was prohibited. The ban applies until the corona measures are relaxed!

The reason given to me by the post office was that customs, which scans every package, no longer allows liquids to pass through. They couldn’t explain to me what the meaning was.

But I suspect, since it is close to the start of vaccination, that they want to prevent the vaccine from being exported illegally from Indonesia. I don’t see any other reason.

Due to Corona, the following substances have been banned so far:

  • Seeds (official certificate of safety)
  • Roasted coffee beans and unroasted (count as seeds) ground coffee are permitted
  • all forms of liquids
  • all flammable and explosive substances
  • Batteries also in watches

Alternatives for shipping liquids

According to information from DHL Indonesia, shipping liquids via DHL is still possible. The problem here is that DHL is extremely expensive and shipping takes place in boxes. Even if the weight is less than 2 kg, the package must go into this box. Smallest shipping option with DHL from Indonesia. 2 kilograms for 1,600,000 Rp (approx. 95 €)

Unhindered shipping is currently only possible to Asia. Stricter shipping regulations apply to all other continents!
